Laomi, Koncharoenkai, Barnett Nominated For ICC Women's Player Of The Month For August
By Pramit Meher
Three associate-nation stars—Thailand's Suleeporn Laomi and Nannapat Koncharoenkai, plus Isle of Man's Lucy Barnett—have been shortlisted for the ICC Women's Player of the Month award for August 2026. Barnett made history as the first cricketer from the Isle of Man to land on an ICC monthly shortlist. Laomi (legspinner) had a monster month. She took 4 wickets at 3.38 econ in Thailand's 3-0 ODI sweep over PNG, headlined by a match-winning 3/27 in the decider, plus 6 wickets at 5.40 econ across four T20Is. Her Asia Cup highlight was a classy 3/26 vs India in Dubai. Nannapat (wk-bat) anchored the top order—144 runs avg 36 in the PNG T20I series, 121 runs avg 40.33 in the ODIs, and an unbeaten 123 off 64 vs Norway in the Asia Cup, with half-centuries against Romania (71*) and Turkey (59) in the final. Barnett added offspin to her wicketkeeping, taking 4 wickets at 3.80 econ. Nominations put the spotlight on associate cricket, and it's a well-deserved recognition for players who don't always get the limelight. 🏏 Source: Cricketnmore
