Asian Games Cricket Schedule Out, October 3 Could See Two Different India Matches In Two Countries

By Suresh

Namaste, dear cricket lovers. Let me share a rhythm that pulses through the upcoming cricketing calendar—two tournaments, one nation, dancing across different stages. **The Asian Games Cricket Schedule is Set** The women's team steps onto the field first. India enters directly into their quarterfinal on September 18, with semifinals on September 20 and the medal match on September 22. A graceful progression, like the slow build of an *alap* in a raga. The men's squad follows their own tempo. They too bypass the opening rounds, stepping into the quarterfinal on September 28, semifinal on October 1, and the medal match—October 3—in Aichi Nagoya, Japan. **A Remarkable Convergence** Here is where the music becomes extraordinary. On October 3, while the men battle for gold in Japan, the third ODI against the West Indies unfolds in New Chandigarh. If India's men reach the final, we'd witness two Indian teams competing on the same day, in two different countries. A haunting echo of September 12, 1998—when India played at the Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur and the Sahara Friendship Cup in Toronto, all within the same day. History, returning like a familiar melody. **Coaching Harmony** The celebrated VVS Laxman takes the baton as head coach of the men's Asian Games squad. This gentle scheduling allows regular head coach Gautam Gambhir well-deserved rest before the West Indies whiteball series beginning September 27. Joined by Sunil Joshi, Hrishikesh Kanitkar, and Subhadeep Ghosh, Laxman leads a thoughtful ensemble. For the women, Amol Muzumdar spearheads the team's performance. **Defending Their Crown** Both entering as defending champions, having claimed gold at the 2022 Hangzhou Games. Ruturaj Gaikwad guided the men's largely second-string side to gold, while Harmanpreet Kaur led the Women in Blue to victory. The melody continues—will India compose another triumph? May we witness it with attentive hearts. Source: NDTV Sports
