**Wolvaardt Excited for SA Women's Maiden T20I Tour to Zimbabwe** SouthWomen's captain Laura Wolvaardt says touring Zimbabwe for a historic 5-match T20I series is "pretty cool" – the first time her team has faced another African side at senior level. All five games are queued at Queens Sports Club, Bulawayo, on Sept 11, 13, 15, 17 & 19. "It's very special. As long as I've played, we've never faced another African team. Cool to play our neighbours – really excited to head over," she said per CSA. The squad is a fresh one. Just three players – Annerie Dercksen, Karabo Meso & Kayla Reyneke – carry over from the 2026 ICC Women's T20WC squad in England. Four uncapped youngsters join: Caitlin Wyngaard, Luyanda Nzuza, Nthabiseng Nini & JaeLeigh Filander (who stepped in for injured WK-bat Sinalo Jafta). Head coach Mandla Mashimbyi says the tour is a key testing ground as SA builds toward the 2029 Women's World Cup. "Opportunity to test skills, give young players a chance, and see where we're heading. Some youngsters putting their hands up – adds a bit of pressure on the usual tour picks." Wolvaardt's added the new energy: "Awesome to see those youngsters express themselves and play free cricket. Lots of talent in the nets – keen to see how they go." *Source: IANS* Source: Cricketnmore
