Smriti Mandhana's record-breaking run tally is the product of relentless discipline, says RCB coach Rangarajan. While scoring 124 against Hong Kong China in the Women's Asia Cup at Dubai International Cricket Stadium, India vice-captain Smriti Mandhana surpassed Mithali Raj's career mark of 10,868 runs across all formats to become the leading runscorer in women's international cricket. She also went past Meg Lanning for the most centuries in women's international cricket. Rangarajan, RCB head coach, highlighted that what stands out about Smriti is her consistency, showing up at the top of her game series after series. He noted that her understanding of the sport has deepened year on year, both as a batter and a leader, emphasizing that reaching such milestones doesn't happen by accident but through relentless discipline and high self-standards. Teammate Arundhati Reddy echoed these sentiments, pointing to Smriti's leadership and preparation as key factors. She described Smriti as someone the team looks up to both as a player and captain, noting how her calmness, clarity, and the confidence she instills in others make a significant difference. Mandhana, 30, leads RCB in the WPL with 1,023 runs in 35 innings, having captained the franchise to two titles. For the team, her record-breaking achievement reflects the person and leader they are fortunate to have in their dressing room. Source: Cricketnmore
